Bob completed his Massage Therapy certification in 1995 at Mount Royal College in Calgary.
Since then, he has continued to take upgrading courses, and study other modalities related to muscle work. Some of these include myofascial release, soft tissue release, active isolated stretching (AIS), and yoga.
Bob has been practicing in clinical settings in the Bow Valley since 1996, although began his real hands on training at the acclaimed Banff Springs Hotel, in the famous Willow Stream Spa. He soon found, however, that the relaxation and “pampering” of the spa environment was not gratifying. Doing therapeutic work, establishing relationships, and helping clients reduce pain and return to normal activities was far more to his liking.
Bob likes to work in close contact with other health care professionals to ensure the client receives a comprehensive treatment plan. To this end, he is often engaged in dialogue with chiropractors, physiotherapists, athletic therapists, and even other massage therapists to share information and treatment suggestions for a shared client.
The mountain setting of Canmore is a source of energy for Bob, and he lives an active outdoor lifestyle. Some of his pursuits have included sport and alpine rock climbing, trail running, mountain biking, and all the forms of skiing – classic, skate, touring, ski mountaineering, and even some downhill….. He has been known to get in a whitewater kayak, though canoeing and sea kayaking are more to his liking. Engaging in all these activities means muscle fatigue and soreness, and Bob believes that massage and stretching are a way to ease pain, promote recovery, and lead to good physical and mental health.
